Another week here and gone. It's been a long week for me. My father fractured the femur in his leg and he had to have surgery yesterday. He had a hip replacement a few months ago on the same side. I've spent a lot of time at the hospital this week and that can be very draining.
I did manage to get some work done in the studio today and that's a good thing. :)

My mixed media/collages never finish up the way they start. That's why I like creating them so much. It's always a surprise. There are many different colors of paint and layers of dress pattern under what you actually see here. If I don't like something, I sand over it and add new stuff until I do like it.

Another work week come and gone. I love weekends, especially Friday evenings. I like staying up late reading in bed and sleeping in. I don't have anything pressing to do tomorrow, besides get the pork roasts in the slow cooker to make pulled pork for supper. We have pulled pork on toasted kaiser rolls with barbecue sauce and sour cream every Saturday. Delicious!
Today was a studio day after the housework was done. Yay! The result of my time in there is this piece of work. It's a mixed media/collage with an image transfer of a self-portrait I did a while ago. Image transfers are so much fun to do.

A big snow storm is headed our way today. 25-30 cm of snow expected to fall by tomorrow afternoon. I have all my errands taken care of and I don't have to go out. Instead, I'll stay in where it's warm and there's coffee and chocolate. I might cook something really delicious for supper and pet the cats and snuggle with Gennie. I do have laundry to do and litter boxes to scoop and bathrooms to clean, so maybe I'll do that first.

I finally have my new web site up and running! My last hosting service deleted my image gallery and didn't respond well to customer service requests, so I finally moved to Squarespace where my data will be safe.

I've been using a lot of copper wire in my jewelry making lately. It's fun to get out my blow torch and melt the ends of the wire into beads to be hammered flat. And it looks cool when it's oxidized. Steel wire is much harder to melt because it needs a higher temperature and the torch just doesn't cut it.
I'm reading this book now. I started reading Stephen King when I was about twelve and had to stop for a few years because I began having nightmares. I guess twelve was young to be reading books like that, but I was an avid reader and I read whatever my parents were reading. I began reading his books again in my early twenties and I have read almost everything that he has written. What are you reading?
This week has been kind of weird. I backed my car into a tree and smashed out the back window and put a couple of dents in the hatchback, just for good measure. I felt like the biggest idiot ever.Then I had to call John and tell him what I did. I'll never live this one down. Lol! And it's not easy trying to tape plastic to the window when it's windy as all hell out and minus 5 and your fingers are numb.
Today we are getting a mishmash of weather. 5-10cm of snow, ice pellets and then rain. Add high winds to that and you have a very nasty day. And I get to go out into it. I don't really mind that much. I like driving in the snow. I feel cocooned and safe, oddly enough.
I created some new designs in the studio. I really like spirals and I use them in my art work a lot.
Still working on the drawing of Dad. Maybe I'll finish it tonight.
